Investor Platform
Proof of concept for an investor platform in Abu Dhabi. Working in a small and agile team, we were tasked to create two interactive prototypes for two key users types that would then be used to demo the platform at Abu Dhabi business week.
Background
The Ask
The client is looking to attract international investors to Abu Dhabi by creating an investors platform that integrates multiple Government and partner websites into one intuitive and unified experience. It sits horizontally across the ecosystem bringing a ‘single pane of glass’ aggregated view of data and updates from many systems and departments, connecting investors to business opportunities, to services and to networking opportunities.
Approach
Due to the quick turn around needed to deliver the two prototypes the team needed to immerse ourselves to fully understand what our two key persona would be looking for in the experience. Our key stakeholder was able to connect us with the different partners, while also have a wealth of knowledge about the two different investors needs. We ran multiple sessions with partners to map out what information and data would be needed at different points in out key journeys. We ran co-design sessions with out key stakeholders, to validate our thinking and approach.
The Outcome
We delivered two interactive prototypes that showcased two key user types of the platform. The first being a high net worth individual that is interested and investing in Abu Dhabi, the second being an SME tech innovator specialising in mobility solutions in Abu Dhabi. The two prototypes showcased different key activities and information that would be relevant to our two personas, and also highlighted how AI could help along their journeys.
The prototypes were shown at Abu Dhabi business week, and was a success with the high prince. We are currently scoping out further phases of work to create and deliver the investment platform.
The Personas and Journeys

High net worth individual
A high net worth individual is looking to invest in a lifestyle and ecosystem of opportunity in order to thrive in the middle of a dynamic business environment with a high-quality of life. He is looking for a location where he and his family will be valued as residents as much as investors; and he is looking to be seen as a valued local leader within an active community of investors and partners. He wants to be supported by, and work in partnership with, the government living the value of Maak or 'with you’.
Homepage
The homepage of the site features an overview of Abu Dhabi and highlights objectives of the investment that Abu Dhabi is making in attracting businesses and innovation to the region. The investor sees that they can define their interest using a simple switch, changing their preference to an individual investor view which customises the content. The user has navigated to the SAVI and Digital Technology sites which is also used to customise the experience. The content is a mix of lifestyle, community and opportunity.
AI-powered Bot
They can also ask a gen-AI powered chatbot which is linked to the key Government sites which can summarise content in a helpful written format. Their question about the government efforts to reduce export complexity brings back summarised content from the ATLP site.
Registration
Satisfied that this is an opportunity worth exploring the investor starts to register. Our investor already has a login to another Abu Dhabi Government site, so he logs in using his UAE pass automatically populating his profile and linking his details to this central ID store. The investor selects which clusters are a priority for their investment interests (including the SAVI cluster) and continues to the dashboard. The process is very simple, removing any barrier to joining.
Dashboard
The new user dashboard is focused on providing next steps for them to continue enriching their profile and begin to establish themselves, bringing forward next steps, opportunities for investments and for networking. Additionally, insight and industry content is provided which matches their investment profile. The documentation they provided for their KYC process, along with any future contract is securely available (validated by blockchain) for them to be able to securely share further when they use other Government services.
Opportunities
Finally, our user navigates to the Opportunities page for an individual investor which shows the many opportunities available from the broad ecosystem provided by Abu Dhabi entities within the digital investor ecosystem. It also shows a summary of existing investments they have connected to via ADIO. There are opportunities shown to invest directly with a business via AD Connect, start-up and innovation ventures via Hub71 and real estate via Musataha.

Innovation-focused SME business
AutoDrive is an innovative mid-sized business-an autonomous transportation innovator specialising in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) is expanding its autonomous mobility solutions in Abu Dhabi, leveraging the UAE's smart city initiatives like the SAVI cluster (Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industry). They have secured a contract with a German auto manufacturer and are finalising a second with a US company. They are establishing production in the KEZAD free zone.
Homepage
As an existing company in Abu Dhabi our company director user has returned to the website to check on status and to explore his financing options for the new technology they are going to start producing. As an existing registered user, the homepage has content tailored for a known user with an existing business, including all important updates and notifications from their dashboard and any notifications from connected systems
Dashboard
Seeing there are multiple new updates this company director navigates to the full dashboard view where they are presented with an up-to-date summary view of their company profile, it's partners and investors, their in-progress business activities supported by the ecosystem, notifications from across the ecosystem and progress with the tasks which Abu Dhabi departments are helping them with. The dashboard is a single pane of glass aggregating
all updates from the ecosystem of available support in one place.
AI-powered Bot
The company director sees that an economic licence dual licence is needed since they will be operating both in the freezone and in the Global Market area as they establish a production line in KEZARD. They use the AI-powered bot to complete the application for them, being prompted to pay from their wallet and upload a document which isn’t in their document library. The company director also sees an update from the ATLP team about exports they are being helped with to supply a major European auto manufacturer with ADAS technology they are looking to manufacture in Abu Dhabi being ideally situated centrally. They use the bot to get insight on the German market and click to ATLP to look for German partners.
Services
Next the business director navigates to the services page which brings together both services and financing opportunities. The pages shows all the active service status from across the Abu Dhabi support and opportunity ecosystem including Numou, ATLP and KEZAD. Shown are active export, import, visa services, licence and real estate services. It also has a categorised services page linking to the full ecosystem of supporting sites including Numou, ATLP, KEZAD, AD Connect, Hub71 and TAMM.
Opportunities
Finally, our user navigates to the Opportunities page which shows details of his company’s current active investment opportunity (via AD Connect) designed to bring further investors into his rapidly growing company, as well as showing any historic investments fulfilled. He can see messages from potential investors about their opportunity. Opportunity updates (such as tenders) suitable for his company are highlighted here from ATLP, ADERP, AD Business Connect and Hub71.
Wireframes
Due to the fast pace of the work wireframes were created collaboratively in Mural. The content needed for both prototypes had to be crafted across different design review sessions with our key stakeholder, and with input from different partners to make sure the information that we were showing was relevant and correct. The content played a key part in the narrative used during the two prototype journeys.

Visual Design
The visual designs for the two prototypes were created and optimised for viewing on an iPad as we knew the prototypes would be demonstrated on these devices. Due to the short timeline on the project there were two visual designers working on the designs, and I also stepped in to help with designs, once a look and feel had been created.

Client Feedback
“It's not that often that a team I am engaged with gets it that fast, especially to get something ready to this present to this level of execs and leaders. I cannot be more grateful for your support.”
Thank you for your interest in my work!
